Jobgether is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for the Protection team in a fully remote, global setup. You will design and build scalable backend systems for payment dispute management, fraud prevention, and risk automation, taking ownership from architecture to deployment.

You will work with engineering and product leaders to deliver reliable, automated solutions, integrate with PSPs and fraud platforms, and mentor teammates while upholding high engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience owning backend systems end to end, from architecture to deployment and maintenance.
• Strong system design and scalable architecture skills in evolving environments.
• Experience building from scratch and taking ownership of ambiguous problems.
• High standards for code quality, testing, and operational excellence.
• Delivery-focused mindset with a track record of shipping improvements.
• Experience mentoring engineers and establishing engineering best practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in remote, distributed teams.
• Experience integrating third-party fraud prevention vendors is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Backend engineering and architecture across the full lifecycle.
• Payment dispute automation and workflow development.
• Integrations with payment service providers and fraud platforms.
• Design native rules engines for risk and fraud management.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate merchant challenges into solutions.
• Contribute to backend development with frontend support when needed.
