Job summary

Salient Group is seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer to design and build the backend systems behind a brokerage and capital markets platform, including trading, order management, positions, settlement, funding, and risk.

You will work at the intersection of financial engineering and modern software practice, collaborating daily with product, risk, compliance, and cross-regional engineering teams, and you will drive AI-native engineering practices across the team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building backend systems in Java, C++, Go, Python, or similar.
• Experience with distributed, highly-available systems.
• Strong knowledge of databases, APIs, messaging, caching, and concurrency.
• Independent ownership from design to production.
• Strong cross-functional and cross-cultural communication skills.
• Regular, critical use of AI coding tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and own backend systems powering trading, order management, positions, and settlement.
• Make architecture decisions for scale, accuracy, and security.
• Drive root-cause analysis on production issues in live trading.
• Collaborate daily with Product, Risk, Compliance, and cross-regional teams.
• Use AI coding tools across the dev lifecycle — coding, review, testing, debugging, documentation.
• Help establish AI-native engineering practices across the team.
