Job summary

Addepar is seeking a highly experienced Backend Software Engineer with a strong Java background to join our Trading suite of products, including Rebalancing, OMS, and IBOR. You will design and implement scalable, secure backend systems and mentor engineers, delivering solutions from concept to delivery.

You will lead complex technical designs, collaborate with product and design teams, and contribute to architecture decisions across distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Expert-level backend development with Java.
• Experience with SQL, NoSQL, OLAP, and/or data lake architectures.
• Strong knowledge of software design patterns, API design, and the SDLC.
• Ability to influence technical direction in distributed systems.
• Cloud expertise, preferably AWS.
• Mentor engineers and drive architecture decisions.
• Experience with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and related technologies.

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and maintain engineering solutions to solve complex problems; write well-designed, testable code.
• Lead individual project priorities, deadlines, and solutions.
• Collaborate effectively with product managers, engineers, and partners on projects.
• Active support of business needs during US hours. Act as an engineering representative to the client and product support and steer communications from engineering standpoints.
• Communicate technical ideas and set direction on projects with a focus on solving business challenges.
• Mentor other engineers on the team.
• Participate in the design and development of a strategic product for Addepar.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code that's also scalable and extensible
