Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Financing Engineering team within the Institutional group. You will design, build, and scale backend services that safely manage billions of dollars in loans across Portfolio Margin, Trade Finance, Agency Lending, Bilateral Lending, and more.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend engineering with high-reliability workloads.
• Experience designing service-oriented architectures in Go or Java.
• Experience operating distributed systems with data integrity.
• Ability to mentor engineers and lead design reviews.
• Familiar with relational stores, gRPC/Protobuf, and observability in cloud-native environments.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and delivery of new financing products and features, from architecture to production launch.
• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and frameworks for loan lifecycle management and risk calculations.
• Improve tooling, testing infrastructure, monitoring, and reliability across financing systems.
• Collaborate with Product, Risk, Operations, and other teams to translate requirements into scalable tech solutions.
• Lead initiatives to strengthen system resilience and ship safely at speed.
