Job summary

Horizon3 AI is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to strengthen the External Attack team. You’ll own core Python APIs, orchestration workflows, and data pipelines powering NodeZero’s external pentesting capabilities.

Expect work across AWS data lakes, Kubernetes, and GraphQL services, with emphasis on observability and scalable production systems. You’ll collaborate with frontend, product, and design, document designs, and help deploy robust backend solutions in a remote/hybrid environment with

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience using modern OO/functional languages.
• Experience building and running workflow orchestration or distributed task-processing systems in production.
• Hands-on experience designing and building high-throughput data processing systems and ETL pipelines.
• Experience building apps on cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) with Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Python API features with performance and maintainability in mind.
• Develop workflow orchestration for large-scale workloads using Prefect or Temporal.
• Build scalable orchestration with visibility into progress, failures, and throughput.
• Read and optimize complex SQL and refactor safely in production.
• Create and operate high-throughput data processing and ETL pipelines.
• Contribute to datalake architecture on AWS for storage and query performance.
• Deploy and manage services on Kubernetes and participate in release planning.
• Develop GraphQL backends and graph data access for product components.
• Own observability, uptime, and scalability with metrics, tracing, and on-call participation.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, and design to deliver a clear user experience.
• Write design docs and runbooks to accelerate team understanding.
