D-Wave Quantum Inc. is hiring a Senior Back-End Software Developer to contribute to Leap™, our quantum-classical hybrid cloud platform. You will develop new backend features, maintain services, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in Python for automation, scripting, and application development.
• Experience designing, implementing, and consuming REST APIs.
• Experience with Git workflows, including branching, merging, pull requests, code reviews.
• Strong communication skills and collaboration across teams.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable mindset.
• Remote US, with a preference in the West Coast or Mountain time zones.
• Experience with Golang and Rust.
• Experience with HPC environments, workload managers like Slurm or PBS, and heterogeneous hardware integration.
• Understanding of asynchronous programming techniques.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Spinnaker).
• Experience deploying software in AWS and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product owners and software architects to define requirements and deliver new features from concept to deployment.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Maintain and improve existing systems by identifying inefficiencies and implementing enhancements.
• Independently own development tasks and contribute to moderately complex features and technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve bugs through code and system-level analysis.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Mentor junior and intermediate developers and support their technical growth.
• Support performance tuning and scalability improvements.
• Identify blockers early and collaborate with the team to resolve issues.
• Participate in the annual Hackathon to prototype new ideas.
• Join the on-call rotation to ensure high availability after learning the system.
