Job summary

D-Wave Quantum Inc. in New Haven, CT is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Systems Software Engineering team. You will design and build core platform infrastructure, backend services, and user-facing features enabling access and reliable operation of simulators and quantum processors.

The role requires solving complex problems, delivering high-quality software, and mentoring junior engineers while contributing to scalable, automated systems across the product.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in CS, EE/CE, math, or physics.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong Python and at least one compiled language (C++, Go, or Rust).
• Experience with NumPy and open-source contributions.
• Experience with AWS and SQL.
• Proficient with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and REST APIs.
• Familiar with testing (unit/integration) and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Translate requirements into technical specs and production solutions.
• Lead architecture for simulators, quantum processor services, and platform infra.
• Design tooling for development, operation, and monitoring.
• Write clean, well-documented code and review peers.
• Troubleshoot bottlenecks and optimize performance.
• Contribute across the software lifecycle from design to production support.
• Mentor junior engineers.
