Job summary

D-Wave Quantum Inc. is seeking a Senior Back-End Software Developer to contribute to Leap, our quantum-classical hybrid cloud platform. You will build features, maintain services, and collaborate across teams to deliver scalable solutions in a rapidly evolving field.

The role emphasizes ownership, mentorship, and strong engineering practices. Quantum experience is not required, but growth in that area is encouraged. Remote US work with preference for West Coast/Mountain time zones.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong Python proficiency for automation and development.
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
• Experience with Git workflows, branching, merging and code reviews.
• Good communication and collaboration across teams.
• Self-motivated, proactive and adaptable mindset.
• Interest in improving processes and systems across teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product owners and software architects to define requirements and deliver features.
• Participate in full SDLC from design to maintenance.
• Maintain and improve existing systems, identify and implement enhancements.
• Own development tasks and work on moderately complex features.
• Troubleshoot bugs and perform system-level analysis.
• Write clean, well-documented code and participate in code reviews.
• Mentor junior and intermediate developers to grow technical skills.
• Support performance tuning and scalability improvements.
• Join on-call rotation to ensure high availability of Leap.
