Job summary

Seqera is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own the backend layer that makes compute provisioning, metering, and billing configurable, runnable, and billable. You’ll work across AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, HPC schedulers, and GPU provisioning using JVM tech.

You’ll own design, data modeling, API development, and cross-team collaboration to deliver reliable, customer-facing backend services with strong observability and testing.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building and operating production backend services with ownership.
• Strong in Java and/or Groovy with Micronaut or Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience with a major cloud provider API for provisioning resources.
• Kubernetes experience where workloads run.
• Care for data correctness; billing/meters experience is a plus.
• Experience designing REST APIs and data models across services.
• Accountable for customer-facing production systems.
• Comfort with documenting systems and decisions.
• Willingness to leverage AI in daily engineering work.

Responsibilities

• Build and own the integration between Seqera Intelligent Compute and the Seqera Platform.
• Own platform compute environments across AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, HPC schedulers, GPU provisioning.
• Interact with cloud APIs and handle real-world issues like partial failures and quotas.
• Own billing and pay-as-you-go paths with accurate metering and invoices.
• Design consistent data models and APIs across services.
• Increase observability and write tests to reduce incident diagnosis time.
• Collaborate with Platform, Product, and Support teams on customer escalations.
• Document system decisions to avoid single points of knowledge.
