Elastic is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Billing Core team to own key systems, tackle complex problems, and raise engineering quality. You will build reliable Python backends and manage PostgreSQL schemas to ensure accurate billing data.

You will design data pipelines, improve observability, participate in reviews, mentor juniors, and collaborate with Product, SRE, and Cloud Infrastructure. Expect on-call rotations and production readiness duties in a global, async environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend experience with Python and PostgreSQL.
• Experience building data pipelines or event-driven systems in production.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and how to build for reliability and scale.
• Background in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Good communication and ability to work in a global async environment.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve billing data ingestion pipelines.
• Design and build reliable Python backends with data integrity.
• Own PostgreSQL schema design and query performance for billing data.
• Lead small to medium projects end-to-end within the team.
• Improve observability and reliability of core billing systems.
• Participate in code and design reviews; mentor juniors.
• Work with Product and Tech Leads to shape priorities.
• Take part in on-call rotations and production readiness.
