Job summary

Lightning AI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and scale backend systems for AI development. You will work across distributed training infrastructure, workload orchestration, experiment management, developer tooling, and platform APIs, partnering with multiple teams to empower researchers and enterprises globally.

You will contribute to building reliable, scalable services, improve observability, and help shape the developer experience for AI workloads at scale.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building scalable backend systems.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native architecture.
• Hands-on experience with production services at scale.
• Experience building backend platforms or developer tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services powering AI agent orchestration.
• Develop scalable APIs and platform capabilities for tool use and workflow orchestration.
• Build reliable infrastructure for long-running, distributed AI workflows.
• Collaborate with product, research, and platform teams to deploy new capabilities.
• Improve platform reliability, observability, and performance as workloads scale.
• Evaluate architecture, processes, and tooling to raise standards.
• Maintain quality through testing, automation, and CD.
• Mentor engineers on system design and backend best practices.
