Job summary

Lightning AI, with hubs in San Francisco, NYC and London, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its agent platform. You’ll design and build backend systems powering AI agent orchestration, with a focus on scalable tooling and developer APIs.

This role requires in-person collaboration across multiple offices with at least two days in the office weekly. You’ll work with Core Platform, Training & Experimentation, Sandboxes, and Optimized Compute to deliver reliable, scalable, and easy-to-use

Qualifications

• Experience building scalable backend systems.
• Proficient in Go, Python, or Rust.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems and APIs.
• Experience with cloud-native architecture.
• Experience with production services at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services powering AI agent orchestration.
• Develop scalable APIs and platform capabilities for tool use and state management.
• Build reliable infrastructure for long-running distributed workflows.
• Collaborate with product, research, and platform teams to ship agent features.
• Improve platform reliability, observability, and performance as workloads scale.
• Mentor engineers on system design and backend best practices.
