Job summary

Lila Sciences is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Operations Research to join our software group and help build the next generation AI-driven scientific platform. You will design, build, and optimize backend systems and data infrastructure that power orchestration and lab execution.

You’ll work closely with robotics researchers, platform engineers, and scientists to develop systems that can handle diverse workloads and scale to demanding throughput, ensuring reliability and performance.

Qualifications

5–10 years of backend or data-system engineering experience.
Experience with distributed software and data systems (Postgres, Flyte, Temporal, NATS/MQTT, FastAPI).
Experience using AI coding assistants to boost productivity.
Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration with scientists, engineers and product teams.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and optimize backend systems and data infrastructure powering orchestration and lab execution.
Develop services, high-performance APIs, databases, and ensure reliability of systems integrating AI frameworks with scientific workflows.
Build APIs and backend services that integrate with AI-driven applications, focusing on reliability and performance.
Collaborate with robotics scientists, platform engineers, and ML teams to scale workloads and orchestrate data pipelines.
