Job summary

McGraw Hill is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join the Sharpen team. You will design, build, and operate scalable microservices in TypeScript and Go, delivering AI-driven learning experiences across GraphQL and REST APIs, deployed on AWS and Kubernetes.

8+ years of professional software development experience building and operating production backend services.
Strong experience with TypeScript and Go for backend services.
Experience designing GraphQL and REST APIs.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and operate scalable backend services.
Own services through their full lifecycle, including production readiness and incident response.
Build and evolve GraphQL and REST APIs with versioning and safe migrations.
Design distributed systems and independently deployable microservices.
Build event producers and consumers using queues and asynchronous processing.
Develop, deploy, and operate services on Kubernetes and AWS.
