Job summary

Turo is seeking experienced software engineers to join a consumer-product focused team in San Francisco. You will ship code daily, run A/B tests, and influence product from inception to implementation.

You will work with APIs, internal services, and a web app central to redefining mobility and car ownership. The role emphasizes strong backend capabilities, AI-enabled tooling, and collaboration across product and design.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years shipping high-scale code to production.
Experience with AI-enabled development and tooling.
Fluent in at least one language – Java, Python, Ruby, Go, or C.
Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, databases, distributed systems, search.
Enjoy solving problems and helping others meet their goals.
Passionate about backend tech: search, streaming, databases, etc.
Strong communicator: explain technical concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with PM, design, and engineers to develop product features that drive metrics.
Produce high-quality, maintainable code; write tests; review and ship.
Identify areas to improve and scale architecture and design.
Develop tools to diagnose and fix problems.
Ensure proper technical design and documentation.
Work in a fluid, creative environment with evolving processes.
