Job summary

Turo Inc. is seeking a skilled Android Engineer in San Francisco to join our team. You’ll ship features for our Android app, collaborate with product and design, and improve our architecture while delivering high-quality code.

Ideal candidates have at least 4 years of Android experience, strong Kotlin skills, and a track record of shipping apps on Google Play. This hybrid role requires in-office presence in San Francisco parts of the week.

About the team

We are looking for brilliant software engineers for our team. You should have a passion for consumer products and want to help us achieve our goal of bringing Turo to everyone. We ship code daily, A/B test extensively, and have a primary role in experimenting with new ideas from inception to implementation. There’s much to do, and you’ll be responsible for making some really cool stuff happen. Do you love Android? From booking your next trip to picking up a car, we build our Android app so it is integral to the Turo experience. Be a member of a growing team of talented engineers and play a significant role in shaping an exciting app that’s changing how people travel and think about car ownership.

What you will do

You will use the latest technologies to help us deliver a first-class Android experience. You will collaborate extensively with product managers, designers, and engineers to develop product features that drive our metrics. You will produce high-quality maintainable code, test, collaboratively review, and ship it. You will identify areas to improve and scale our architecture and application design. You will ensure proper technical design and documentation. You will work efficiently in a constantly changing and growing environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are desired.

Your profile

• You have a minimum of 4 years of experience
• You love developing Android apps and possess a real passion for the platform.
• You have experience shipping Android apps available on Google Play.
• You are fluent in Kotlin and have deep knowledge of the Android SDK.
• You are well versed in Clean Architecture, MVI Solid principles, and Dependency Injection.
• You have an understanding of reactive programming.
• You are a strong communicator.
• Explaining complex technical concepts to our designers, support staff, and engineers is no problem for you.
• You enjoy solving problems and helping others meet our goals.

Bonus if you have

• You have a track-record of shipping features that created an impact.
• You are passionate about writing applications using Kotlin and Dagger 2.

For this role, the target base salary range in San Francisco is $156,000-$195,000 annually.

This role is also eligible for equity and benefits.

In general, our ranges reflect the market-based target for new hire salaries based on the level and location of the role.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by objective factors assessed during the application and interview process, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Turists will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursday.
