Turo Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Backend Platform to design, build, and maintain core platform tooling, shared services, and scalable backend systems.

You will enhance observability, reliability, and production readiness while collaborating with product and infrastructure teams across the company. Expected to own and evolve platform capabilities, contribute to operational excellence, and mentor teams on best practices in software quality, testing, and deployment safety in

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with backend or platform engineering.
• Strong programming experience in at least one backend language (Java, Kotlin, Go, Python).
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and production operations.
• Experience with cloud-native environments (AWS) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain platform tooling, automation, and services to improve engineering efficiency and reliability.
• Contribute to foundational backend systems, shared services, and platform capabilities used company-wide.
• Improve observability with logging, monitoring, dashboards, and production diagnostics.
• Partner with product engineering, infrastructure, and other platform teams to address scalability and bottlenecks.
