Job summary

Turo is seeking software engineers in San Francisco to shape an AI-enabled backend platform. You’ll ship daily, review code, and collaborate across product, design, and engineering to deliver scalable features.

The role emphasizes strong CS fundamentals, multiple language fluency, and the ability to communicate complex concepts. Hybrid in-office work three days a week in SF is expected, with equity and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience shipping high-scale code to production.
• Experience with AI-enabled development and tooling.
• Fluent in at least one language (Java, Python, Ruby, Go, or C).
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, databases, distributed systems, search.
• Strong communicator, able to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Bonus: Bachelor's/Master’s degree or equivalent in CS or related field.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with PM, design, and engineers to develop features that drive metrics.
• Produce high-quality, maintainable code, test, review, and ship.
• Improve and scale architecture and application design.
• Develop tools to diagnose and fix problems, with proper documentation.
• Work in a fluid, evolving environment with creative solutions.
