Job summary

DEPT® is hiring a Senior Engineer to own substantial portions of complex projects. You’ll translate semi-defined problems into plans, ship solutions, and collaborate across product, engineering, marketing, sales, and finance.

The role blends backend focus with occasional cloud infra work and solid frontend awareness for polished UX. You’ll build scalable services, design robust APIs, review code, mentor teammates, and push best practices in testing, security, and CI/CD while engaging with

Qualifications

• Proven experience building and maintaining production-level backend systems used by real people.
• Strong proficiency in Python and API design/integration.
• Experience designing and integrating APIs and third-party systems.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases and frontend basics (Angular).
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider (Google Cloud preferred).
• Daily use of GenAI productivity tools in development workflow.
• Understanding of core LLM concepts and where they fit a problem.
• Version control, Agile processes, and CI/CD tooling.
• Ability to research independently and ask for help when needed.
• Track record of delivering results in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy scalable backend services and APIs for global brands with ownership.
• Turn incomplete specs into clear requirements, tasks, and stories with estimates.
• Contribute to technical design of systems, schemas, and pipelines.
• Integrate third-party APIs and design contracts for frontend and services.
• Conduct code reviews and share constructive feedback to raise quality.
• Identify blockers and risks early to allow course correction.
• Advocate for testing, security, performance, and CI/CD best practices.
• Collaborate with client stakeholders via email, calls, and in-person.
• Apply AI capabilities to real client work and contribute templates and guidance.
• Share learnings internally and externally when project work permits.
