Job summary

Close is seeking a seasoned Python backend engineer to help shape an AI-powered developer platform powering a global, 100% remote team. You will build scalable APIs, improve the backend stack, and own production observability for critical services.

You’ll collaborate across product teams to accelerate shipping while maintaining safety and reliability. You’ll work on DevDawg, Spice, and the API layer, expanding capabilities for internal developers and external integrations.

Qualifications

• Seasoned Python engineer with backend focus.
• Experience shipping AI-enabled or agentic workflows in production.
• Fluent in observability, metrics, tracing and production readiness.
• Experience designing robust, API-first services for internal and external consumers.

Responsibilities

• Expand DevDawg and Spice to cover more surface area.
• Build the paved roads for the API layer with REST/GraphQL/OpenAPI patterns.
• Modernize backend framework layers and migrations (Flask to FastAPI, etc.).
• Own production visibility and readiness with metrics, alerts, and SLOs.
• Ship shared backend services and primitives for data events and migrations.
• Set guardrails for coding agents in backend and ensure safe merges.
