Job summary

DEPT® is seeking a Senior Engineer to own substantial portions of backend work for global brands. You’ll turn semi-defined problems into executable plans, partner with product, marketing, and finance, and ship reliable systems while contributing to frontend practices.

You will work primarily on backend services, with occasional frontend code touches to ensure a polished user experience, and collaborate across teams, clients, and stakeholders to deliver impact.

Qualifications

• Proven production backend experience.
• Strong Python proficiency.
• Experience designing and integrating APIs and third‑party systems.
• Solid knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with frontend basics (Angular/Typescript) to read code and review PRs.
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider (GCP preferred).
• Daily use of GenAI productivity tools in development workflow.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy scalable backend services and APIs for global brands.
• Turn ambiguous specs into clear requirements, tasks, and stories with estimates.
• Participate in technical design of systems, schemas, and pipelines.
• Integrate third‑party APIs and design contracts for frontend teams.
• Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Surface blockers and risks early for course correction.
• Advocate for testing, security, performance, and CI/CD best practices.
• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders via email, calls, and demos.
• Apply AI capabilities to client work and share reusable templates.
• Share learnings internally and externally through talks or articles.
