Job summary

Databricks is seeking a senior backend engineer to architect and scale a next-generation Enterprise Agentic Framework. You will shape the technical vision, build core infrastructure, and ensure high-throughput, reliable systems across domains.

You will collaborate with CXI, Product, Platform Engineering, and business stakeholders, mentor engineers, and raise the engineering bar in terms of performance and maintainability. This role is based in San Francisco with multi-cloud work.

Qualifications

• Extensive backend development experience designing high-throughput systems.
• Proven success deploying enterprise-grade backend infrastructure and microservices.
• Deep familiarity with data platforms and large-scale traffic.
• Hands-on experience with ML-assisted backend systems and state machines.
• Strong understanding of multi-cloud environments and security constraints.

Responsibilities

• Architect the Agentic Ecosystem and core backend architecture.
• Scale across domains, building a modular, multi-tenant platform.
• Drive rapid backend development with quality and safety standards.
• Design state-machine and agentic workflows for human-in-the-loop to automation.
• Implement observability, logging, and safe rollback for critical decisions.
• Lead cross-functional stakeholders to align roadmaps.
• Mentor engineers and SMEs across teams.
