Job summary

New York Life is seeking a Business Analyst to run foundational process discovery for policy administration and related operations. You will capture as-is processes, interview SMEs, and document workflows to enable modernization and system replacement.

You’ll work with product owners, technology partners, and business teams to articulate gaps, risks, and opportunities, building artifacts for architects, QA, and delivery leadership.

Qualifications

• 7+ years as a Business Analyst or similar role.
• 4+ years in Life Insurance or related industry.
• Strong facilitation and SME interviewing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end business process discovery across legacy and modern systems.
• Document as-is processes, workflows, decisions, handoffs, controls, and exceptions.
• Identify undocumented knowledge and manual workarounds.
• Analyze complexity, risk, and efficiency; surface data handoffs and dependencies.
• Produce structured artifacts (process maps, narratives, inventories) for tech teams.
• Support modernization efforts with factual process context.
