Job summary

Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (ICE) is seeking an experienced Senior SRE to lead cloud initiatives across Product Engineering, SRE, Cloud Automation, and Release teams.

You will design architectures, mentor staff, and ensure 24/7 availability while controlling cloud costs in AWS and related environments. The role emphasizes hands-on cloud deployment, automation, and collaboration across multiple engineering disciplines to deliver scalable, secure services.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Systems/Applications automation in 24x7 Production support services environments.
• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, preferably DevSecOps, or SRE role in an AWS cloud environment.
• 5+ years’ strong experience with configuring, managing, solutioning, and architecting with AWS (Lambda, EC2, ECS, ELB, EventBridge, Kinesis, Route 53, RDS and DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, CloudTrail, API Gateway, CloudFront, VPC, TransitGW, IAM, Security Hub, Service Mesh)
• Fluency with one or more scripting language (Python/Shell/Perl/ PHP/Ruby) AND/OR Java/.NET development.
• In-depth OS knowledge in Windows and Linux
• Experience with IAM, Active Directory, ADFS, SAML 2.0, and Single sign-on practices.
• Experience using configuration management tooling for application deployment and workflow orchestration.
• Proven background of implementing CI/CD for projects.
• Track record of introducing automation to solve administrative tasks.
• Proficiency in Terraform

Responsibilities

• Drive discussions on trade-offs, best practices and risk mitigations for cloud deployments at scale.
• Design and implement cloud frameworks and deployments using best practices.
• Collaborate with Product and Support teams to plan and deploy product releases.
• Develop narratives, backlog grooming, epic planning, and sprint planning with Cloud Platform and Operations leaders.
• Build shared services to meet platform needs of teams.
• Ensure 24/7 availability and operational readiness of services.
• Implement proactive monitoring, alerting, trend analysis and self-healing systems.
• Educate and mentor team members on AWS concepts.
• Provide technical analysis and issue resolution in a 24/7 production environment.
• Research cloud technologies and stay current with industry trends.
• Conduct proofs of concepts on emerging technology.
• Participate in on-call rotation to reduce toil and avoid technical debt.
