Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Sr. AWS Data Engineer to lead healthcare data platform modernization. Remote role focusing on moving from MSSQL XML object store to cloud-native AWS architecture, enabling analysts to run SQL-based reports.

Responsibilities include evaluating AWS data services, designing a relational query layer, migrating XML data, building a data catalog, optimizing cost and performance, and collaborating with stakeholders and CI/CD/IaC implementations.

Qualifications

Minimum 8 years of experience in software or data engineering with a strong AWS focus.
Experience migrating cloud data platforms in production enterprise or healthcare environments.
Track record of evaluating and selecting AWS data services to meet reporting needs.
Experience delivering analytics solutions for non-technical business users.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and recommend the optimal AWS-native data storage and query architecture for XML object stores.
Design and build the reporting layer for SQL queries against healthcare data.
Architect the migration path from MSSQL XML stores to the target AWS platform.
Build and maintain AWS data catalog, schemas, and metadata management.
Tune performance and cost across AWS services through partitioning and file formats.
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into data models.
Implement CI/CD pipelines and IaC using AWS tooling.
Document architecture decisions and data flows for technical and non-technical audiences.
