Job summary

Creative Financial Staffing, LLC is partnering with a Hartford-area firm to recruit an AVP of Technical Accounting & Statutory Reporting. The role leads statutory reporting, GAAP/IFRS alignment, and SAP expertise while mentoring a team and influencing regulatory filings.

You will collaborate with investment professionals, auditors, regulators, and clients, shaping accounting policy and reporting initiatives in a hybrid, Hartford-based setting with a strong retirement program and generous PTO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
• 6+ years of insurance investment accounting experience.
• Deep knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles, GAAP, IFRS, and NAIC reporting requirements.
• Proven experience researching and resolving complex accounting and regulatory matters in insurance.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical accounting analysis and guidance related to Statutory Accounting, GAAP, IFRS, NAIC regulations, and insurance investment accounting.
• Research emerging accounting and regulatory developments and develop accounting policies, technical memoranda, and formal position papers.
• Provide accounting guidance on complex investment transactions, including fixed income securities, structured products, derivatives, and alternative investments.
• Oversee statutory reporting support, regulatory filings, annual statements, audits, examinations, and client reporting requirements.
• Collaborate across investment, operations, compliance, legal, and technology teams to strengthen reporting quality and regulatory compliance.
