Job summary

CFS in Hartford, CT seeks a Director of Technical Accounting to lead statutory and GAAP/IFRS/NAIC accounting, advise on investment accounting for insurance portfolios, and guide regulatory reporting requirements.

Collaborate with investment, operations, compliance, legal, and technology teams to strengthen reporting accuracy and regulatory compliance, while mentoring accounting staff. Hybrid schedule with no cap on salary or bonus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• 6+ years of insurance investment accounting experience.
• Expertise in Statutory Accounting Principles, GAAP, IFRS, and NAIC reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical accounting leadership related to Statutory Accounting Principles, GAAP, IFRS, NAIC guidance, and insurance investment accounting regulations.
• Research, interpret, and communicate accounting and regulatory developments while developing accounting policies, technical memoranda, and formal accounting positions.
• Advise stakeholders on the accounting implications of complex investment transactions, including fixed income securities, structured products, derivatives, and alternative investments.
• Oversee technical support for regulatory filings, annual statements, audits, examinations, and client reporting requirements.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives with investment, operations, compliance, legal, and technology teams to strengthen reporting accuracy and regulatory compliance.
