Job summary

ARIES AERO SYSTEMS seeks an experienced Specialist Software Test Engineer to verify safety-critical flight software for its avionics systems. This hands-on role demands strategic testing leadership and practical mentorship across teams.

You will shape test strategy, tools, and processes, lead automated testing, and review test cases for component and system-level benches while ensuring robust HIL capabilities and DO-178/DO-254 alignment. Expect high-impact work critical to mission success.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering from an accredited university.
• 12+ years of aerospace integration and testing experience.
• Strong embedded hardware/software background.
• Advanced Python development skills.
• Experience with requirements-based testing and verification of safety-critical systems.
• Hands-on experience with VectorCAST or an equivalent unit test framework.
• Demonstrated experience developing test benches and automated test infrastructure.
• Experience with both component-level and system-level testing.
• Proven ability to diagnose complex electro-mechanical systems.
• Working knowledge of redundant system design for safety-critical applications.
• Familiarity with DO-178, DO-254, or similarly rigorous certification standards.
• Proficiency with digital communication protocols: RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553, CAN

Responsibilities

• Lead and support verification and validation of safety-critical flight software
• Develop advanced code coverage, regression, and automated testing tools
• Serve as the team’s subject matter expert on software testing methodologies and best practices
• Review and approve test cases for component-level and integrated test bench environments
• Support the development and evolution of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test systems
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex software and electro-mechanical system issues
• Mentor junior engineers and help build a culture of technical excellence
• Collaborate cross-functionally to drive projects to completion and meet mission-critical goals
