Job summary

Blue Origin in Los Angeles is seeking an Avionics Hardware Engineering Manager to lead a team building electrical hardware for Lunar Landers. You will be a lead technical contributor, setting architecture and mentoring engineers to advance safe, repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities include owning analog/digital avionic designs, guiding design reviews, risk analyses, DFx, and program-wide tech development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary development projects and coaching others.
• 6+ years in at least one space-flight applicable specialty.
• Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
• Understanding of hardware engineering principles and methods.
• Ability to deliver imaginative and detailed technical solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, lead, and own upgraded analog and digital avionic designs for lunar hardware.
• Own architecture of hardware and firmware designs and support rugged assemblies end-to-end.
• Lead architecture trade studies, performance characterization, and roadmaps.
• Lead design risk analyses (FMECA), DFx, and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.
• Participate in mission assurance, safety initiatives, and avionics process improvements.
• Communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management.
• Mentor the team, create long-term plans, and grow team members' potential.
• Strategize on Blue Origin's direction and motivate the team to achieve objectives.
• Provide people, processes, and tools to meet project demands; negotiate with product managers.
• Manage direct reports' development, performance reviews, and promotions.
• Organize and equip the team; uphold Blue Origin leadership principles and culture.
