Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an Avionics Hardware Engineering Manager for the Lunar Permanence unit, guiding a team designing electrical hardware for lunar landers and related products. You will provide technical support, ensure high-quality, safe, and repeatable spaceflight, and lead multidisciplinary hardware and firmware architecture decisions.

The role emphasizes leadership, risk analysis, and collaboration across the development lifecycle, with a focus on advancing Blue Moon lander technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in ECE, Physics, or related field.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary development projects or teams.
• 5+ years of spaceflight-related experience in at least one specialty.
• Excellent verbal, written and graphical communication skills.
• Understanding of hardware engineering principles.
• Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment and provide technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead upgraded analog and digital avionic designs for control of fluids and engine systems.
• Own hardware and firmware architecture and support the team through product lifecycle.
• Lead design trade studies, performance characterization, and specifications.
• Perform FMECA, DFx, and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.
• Contribute to technology development, mission assurance, and safety initiatives.
• Communicate development status, risks and challenges to management.
• Mentor team members and develop long-term strategic plans.
