Job summary

FlightSafety International designs, develops, tests and supports manufacturing of flight simulators with emphasis on cockpit and avionics systems and IO interfaces. The role plans, coordinates, and guides lower-level staff while ensuring high-quality engineering results.

The position emphasizes on-site collaboration, on-time task delivery, and proactive problem solving. Travel and security requirements may apply as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• AC and DC Electronics, Digital Logic theory and implementation, Computer System theory, Programmable Logic Devices (PLDs), Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), serial data protocols, Microprocessor/Microcontroller theory and implementation, and circuit/system troubleshooting skills.
• Desired - Microsoft Office, CAD (SolidWorks Electrical), and Project Lifecycle Management software.
• Knowledge of test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, data bus reader, signal generators.

Responsibilities

• Design tasks include cockpit and avionics system design, simulator system design, circuit card design, and integration and troubleshooting.
• Perform operational, functional tests and troubleshooting of electronic circuits, avionics and aircraft systems components using specialized tools.
• Provide on-site and remote support during simulator test, hardware/software integration, discrepancy resolution, and simulator certifications.
• Travel as required and mentor teammates in the department when required.
• Develop engineering tools and prepare customer/test documentation and user guides.
