RTX in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect and develop core software components for avionics platforms. You will work across the full lifecycle, applying modern C++ in safety-critical environments and pursuing civil and military certification standards.

This role offers a hybrid schedule and opportunities to influence system-level architecture, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and deliver DO-178 artifacts, including DAL A deliverables, for certification

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and 5+ years of relevant experience or an Advanced Degree with 3+ years.
• Experience designing and developing software architecture, libraries, or platform-level components in aerospace or safety-critical environments.
• Experience leading technical execution of tasks, including customer engagement and presenting to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop the architecture and design of core software components, libraries, and tooling for avionics.
• Drive technical direction and execution across development and verification activities for safety-critical software (DO-178).
• Develop software requirements, decomposition, and traceability across complex systems.
• Develop and verify software using modern C++ and object-oriented design principles.
• Create DO-178 certification artifacts, including DAL-A deliverables.
• Perform certification activities, including engagement with customers and regulatory authorities.
• Collaborate with engineering, program leadership, and customers to align technical solutions with program objectives.
