Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a seasoned Component Engineer to drive EEE component selection, pedigree evaluation, derating, part-level analyses, and environmental impact assessments for high-reliability avionics. You will also support EEE component procurement and inventory management, and help evolve standards for testing, screening, and qualification.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in component and parts management, avionics hardware development, integration, and/or test.
  • Ability to assess the BOM for avionics designs against vendor/component lists and standards.
  • Experience in design, manufacturing, quality, or reliability capacity.
  • Ability to lead and investigate part advisories, product change notices, and alerts (e.g., GIDEP, ECIA).
  • Experience with managing part change notifications and assessing impact.
  • Experience with obsolescence management of EEE parts.
  • Ability to travel as needed to supplier locations across the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize features of PLM software systems to improve visibility into the product/component approval lifecycle for all stakeholders.
  • Lead program-wide component level assessment and evaluation activities.
  • Support sustaining engineering and obsolescence management efforts in an EEE components capacity.
  • Develop component level requirements and assist the responsible engineer in design solutions.
  • Develop value-added screening and qualification approaches and methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance to EEE component requirements.
  • Lead sustainment activities to maintain baseline control; increase focus on PCN/GIDEP management and proactive obsolescence planning.
  • Enforce baseline control.
