Job summary

Leidos in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Senior Electrical Design & Integration Engineer to lead a multidisciplinary team across avionics, payload integration, and real-time mission systems. You will drive hardware, firmware, and software integration from development through production in a dynamic defense environment.

The role requires an ABET-accredited degree with 6–8+ years of experience, travel ~10%, and the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree required with 8+ years of relevant experience or Master’s with 6+ years.
• Demonstrated capabilities in electrical system design, circuit design and simulation, hardware/software interface design and integration, and firmware development.
• Experience with troubleshooting in lab and field environments and wiring harness design is essential.
• Familiarity with PC board layout design and SMT manufacturing is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel (average 10%) and ability to obtain US security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, analyze, and integrate hardware, firmware, and software solutions for mission-critical systems.
• Test and troubleshoot hardware, firmware, and software in lab and field environments.
• Develop real-time system architectures for flight systems, sensors, and control systems.
• Collaborate with managers, customers, and engineers to derive hardware/software requirements.
• Support hardware and software architecture decisions, including build vs. buy trades.
• Lead electrical system design, avionics, payload integration, and hardware-in-the-loop work.
• Coordinate with suppliers and manage hardware procurement; assist manufacturing transitions.
