Job summary

McFarland Johnson invites an experienced Civil Engineer Aviation Project Manager to join our Aviation and Infrastructure team in New England. You will lead complex, multidisciplinary projects for airports, managing client relationships and project scope from planning through construction.

The role demands 15+ years of progressive project management, strong leadership, and the ability to mentor engineers. PE licensure in NE states and a Civil Engineering degree are preferred.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive project management experience.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver complex projects.
• Experience with airport projects or terminals is a plus.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and relationship management.
• Experience mentoring engineers and supporting business development.
• Familiarity with the New England market and funding sources.
• PE license in NH, MA, ME, CT, RI, or VT.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (ABET‑accredited).

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver complex, multidisciplinary projects across aviation, civil/site, planning, and/or environmental.
• Serve as primary client manager and trusted advisor for airports in New England.
• Manage scope, schedule, and budget while ensuring technical excellence.
• Guide and mentor engineers and technical staff across teams.
• Support workload planning, staff development, and growth of the New England team.
• Contribute to business development through proposals and client engagement.
• Represent MJ at client meetings, industry events, and professional organizations.
