Job summary

AVI-SPL is seeking an Installation Technician 3 to lead installation tasks on contracted projects, including cable pulls, terminations, rack fabrication and wiring layouts. You will coordinate with Project Managers to ensure on-time, within-scope delivery and high-quality, safe results on customer sites.

You will mentor junior technicians, read schematics and blueprints, test and troubleshoot AV equipment, and collaborate with engineers and programmers on-site.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, presenting technical information to diverse audiences.
• High level of professionalism and a commitment to quality work.
• Advanced understanding of AV systems (projectors, screens, speakers, microphones, video conferencing, digital signage, control systems).
• Advanced proficiency in installing, terminating, and troubleshooting low-voltage cabling (HDMI, CAT5e/6, fiber) with conduit runs and cable trays.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues with audiovisual equipment and systems.
• Knowledge of network infrastructure and integration with AV systems (IP-based systems, streaming, cloud services).
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
• Ability to lead and mentor junior technicians and manage on-site teams on large projects.
• CTS General Certification (AVIXA) required.
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
• 4–6 years in audiovisual/electronics installation.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation tasks per project scope and directives.
• Lead on-site teams and mentor Level 1/2 Technicians, ensuring quality work.
• Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints.
• Use hand and power tools to solder and crimp connectors and install AV components.
• Test point-to-point cabling and system functionality; assist with programming changes on-site.
• Track and secure equipment/tools; manage site paperwork and documentation as required.
• Coordinate with Project Manager on-site status and change requests.
• Communicate with other trades and provide client training as needed.
• Travel to various job sites; adapt to evolving priorities.
