Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Raleigh, NC, seeks a Senior Auxiliary Power Systems Engineer to design and deliver advanced auxiliary power systems for critical energy projects across North America. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and guide equipment specification, installation, testing, and commissioning throughout the project lifecycle.

The role emphasizes MV/LV distribution design, DC auxiliary systems, and ETAP-based studies, with a focus on NEC/IEEE standards and safety.

Qualifications

• 5+ years applying NEC and ANSI/IEEE standards in electrical power systems.
• Experience in MV/LV auxiliary power system design and protection coordination.
• ETAP proficiency strongly preferred; Aspen or SKM experience may also be considered.
• Authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design MV/LV auxiliary distribution systems with generators, panels, batteries, chargers, transfer switches, UPS.
• Perform power system studies including arc flash analysis per IEEE/NFPA.
• Develop DC auxiliary power systems and protection schemes.
• Prepare SLDs, feeder load lists, material estimates, and cable sizing.
• Support project delivery through equipment specs, FAT, routing/design, installation supervision, and commissioning.
• Coordinate with project teams for solution updates and delivery needs.
• Improve processes and maintain North American engineering standards and best practices.
• Promote safety, integrity, collaboration and compliance.
