Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Senior Autonomous Systems Computer Engineer to design embedded systems, mentor staff, and deploy real-time firmware on RTOS platforms for autonomous platforms in challenging environments.

The role involves planning rigorous lab and field tests, analyzing performance data, and presenting results to leadership while supporting security clearance requirements. Domestic and global testing may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Master's degree in Electrical or Computer engineering or related field is preferred.
  • Experience with embedded software/firmware design and test.
  • Willingness to work in classified laboratories and field testing around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded systems from architecture through integration and test.
  • Mentor junior staff in embedded design, firmware development and testing practices.
  • Develop and deploy real-time firmware and algorithms on embedded processors and RTOS platforms.
  • Plan and execute lab and field testing, analyze performance, troubleshoot issues, and drive improvements.
  • Document designs, analyses, and test results for design reviews and leadership.
