Job summary

General Motors Company seeks a Senior Systems Engineer for the AV Sensing Design team to define how autonomous sensing systems are architected and integrated across GM’s autonomy programs. The role emphasizes system-level decisions at the intersection of sensors, embedded software, vehicle platforms, and autonomy software to ensure production-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field is required
• 5+ years of sensor-related experience with a B.S.
• Experience supporting sensor analysis and cross-domain technical initiatives
• Technical depth in signal processing, data analysis, or ML across sensing modalities

Responsibilities

• Perform system-level trade studies for multi-modality sensor systems with modeling of performance and behavioral impacts
• Develop detailed performance specifications for sensors based on sensor physics and signal processing
• Assess performance against product needs to quantify risk and drive improvements
• Collaborate with simulation, vehicle integration, perception, localization, and validation teams to manage interdependencies
• Document technical decisions, trade-offs, and deliverables clearly
