Job summary

Grubbs Automotive in Grapevine, TX seeks an experienced Controller to manage the accounting office operations, ensure timely financial reporting, and maintain internal controls. You will lead a team, oversee month-end close, and drive accuracy in vehicle and parts inventories while aligning with dealer guidelines and regulatory requirements.

The role requires 5+ years in franchise auto dealership accounting, strong Excel and DMS skills, and a Bachelor's degree (CPA preferred).

Qualifications

• Franchise retail automotive dealership Controller experience, minimum of 5 years experience.
• Superior analytical ability and critical problem‑solving skills.

• Proficiency in DMS Software & Microsoft Office applications

Responsibilities

• Prepare and transmit timely and accurate monthly financial statements in accordance with dealership guidelines and manufacturer format and time frame.
• Manage month-end close process and objectives.
• Interpret and communicate financial statement and the daily operating control results regularly.
• Establish and maintain a strong internal control structure including appropriate segregation of duties in the accounting department
• Supervise the control of all daily cash accounts.
• Account for and verify assets including vehicle inventory, parts inventory, and information technology assets.
• Review the general ledger and all scheduled accounts for proper reconciliation including but not limited to cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and floor plan per corporate accounting standards.
• Consistently implement all changes in accounting policies and procedures as requested.
• Control all documents, including time records, vehicle deals, and commission vouchers.
• Maintain current vehicle registration, warranty, and incentive programs in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines
• Ensure compliance with all applicable governmental finance regulations, including filing and/or maintaining of required forms, property tax, sales tax filings, etc.
• Follow corporate system for filing and annual cleaning of old records in accordance with the Company's record retention policy.
• Manage and control expenses for all items in the operation
• Schedule and prepare general ledger accounts for annual parts physical inventory audit.
• Recruit, supervise and develop dealership office personnel.
• Responsible for forecasting and budget process.
• Provide department managers with detailed financial and departmental management reports.
• Monitor and improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the dealership.
• Liaise with department managers to review business matters and increase profitability.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to the Business Office team including performance evaluations and recognitions.
