Job summary

United States Cold Storage, Inc. is seeking an Automation Technician 1 to maintain and troubleshoot automated systems within our Georgia facility. You will work under limited supervision, reading schematics, and performing preventative maintenance to keep critical cold-chain systems operational.

The role requires strong electrical/mechanical skills, CMMS proficiency, and the ability to lead portions of projects while mentoring junior technicians. Travel is minimal and safety is a priority.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Associates degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Advanced technical certification.
• Two plus years as USCS Automation Technician 1 with completion of USCS automation training and advanced courses.
• Four years maintenance experience in a manufacturing or distribution center environment.
• Advanced electrical skills including troubleshooting and replacing/adjusting VFDs, IO cards, remote IO modules, barcode scanners, motors.
• Advanced mechanical skills including troubleshooting and replacing/adjusting chains, rollers, motors, gears, bearings.
• Hands on experience troubleshooting and maintaining pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Strong computer skills with familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the optimal performance of the automated system and its integrated automation components and controls.
• Diagnose and resolve issues with automated equipment.
• Utilize an Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system to manage work orders and document progress.
• Lead portions of projects and repairs while guiding other technicians.
• Diagnose system faults and implement timely resolutions to keep operations running smoothly.
• Read electrical schematics and mechanical prints to perform repairs as directed.
• Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance activities.
• Identify and source necessary parts for equipment installations or projects.
• Escalate breakdowns and outages, liaising between warehouse operations, automation providers, and USCS Engineering.
• Mentor automation technicians and manage parts inventory.
