Challenge Manufacturing seeks an Automation Technician IV to support automated welding cells, mentor operators and technicians, and advance robotic programming across multiple systems. The role requires strong electrical and mechanical background, plus intermediate PLC/HMI Skills.

This third-shift position is based at the Spartanburg, SC plant and emphasizes safety, ownership, and teamwork. Ideal candidates will have a journeyman/equivalent certification, mechatronics exposure, and 3+ years in

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently.
• Industrial truck and aerial platform licenses (required).
• Excellent verbal communication skills (required).
• Experience with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Automation Technician II qualifying tests (internal candidates).
• Mechatronics or related technical certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Mentor Automation Technician I-III members and Weld Technicians.
• Perform setup, troubleshooting and operations of automated welding cells.
• Follow safety procedures while servicing or maintaining equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical components using schematics/prints.
• Wire harnesses and intermediate programming for robots.
• Perform basic offline robot programming (RoboCAD/Robot Studio).
• Setup/verify PLC inputs/outputs and HMI configurations.
• Provide system drive, zone setups, I/O simulation and TCP verification.
