Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Carlsbad, CA, seeks a qualified engineer to design, program, and troubleshoot Siemens PLC systems to support manufacturing operations. You will develop and maintain control systems and instrumentation for manufacturing equipment, and integrate instrumentation with existing processes.

This onsite role requires a Bachelor’s in electrical or related field and 5+ years of experience (or 3+ with advanced degree).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or related discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience
• Minimum 2 years PLC programming and troubleshooting (Siemens, Rockwell, or similar)
• Familiarity with industrial control systems, instrumentation, and electrical schematics
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
• US Citizenship is required for access to program materials

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and troubleshoot Siemens PLC systems to support manufacturing operations.
• Develop, test, and maintain control systems and instrumentation for manufacturing equipment.
• Integrate instrumentation and control systems with existing processes and machinery.
• Create and implement automation strategies to improve quality and reduce costs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and maintenance teams to resolve production issues.
• Perform diagnostics and root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Calibrate instruments and control devices to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Document control systems with P&ID diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Design system upgrades, including hardware and software changes, to enhance performance and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
