Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC in Tracy, CA is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to maximize equipment reliability and operational performance in fulfillment centers through proactive controls automation and technical support.

You will mentor junior engineers, lead cross-functional teams to optimize material handling equipment systems, and drive projects involving conveyors, sortation, scanners, cameras, and SCADA devices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent, or 4+ years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience.
• Flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.
• 4+ years of PLC-controlled automation and issue-diagnosis experience in process/production environments.
• 4+ years of robotics work cells and control systems experience.
• 4+ years of Siemens, Allen-Bradley or Codesys ladder logic and structure programming experience.
• 4+ years of electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment experience.

Responsibilities

• Apply SME on troubleshooting and dive deep for engineering issues, supporting automation engineers to investigate root cause and planning actions to eliminate downtime.
• Collaborate with Operations, FC Start-up, software teams, and safety to optimize MHE systems and implement projects.
• Understand, maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems including PLCs and industrial networks.
• Monitor MHE metrics and partner with maintenance/operations to address performance issues and provide analysis.
• Provide escalation support during and after hours to ensure hardware or controls software repairs.
• Move up to 49lbs and perform duties requiring standing, climbing, bending and reaching during long shifts.
