Job summary

Corning Incorporated in Concord, NC is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to lead the design, development, and commissioning of advanced automation systems for fiber manufacturing and cable processing equipment. This senior‑level role drives innovation in process control and system integration to optimize product quality, safety, and throughput.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
8+ years of equipment/controls engineering experience in manufacturing.
Experience with Allen Bradley controllers—PLC, I/O devices, motion control, and communication protocols.

Responsibilities

Lead end‑to‑end automation projects from concept through commissioning and production start‑up, delivering integrated control systems (PLCs, motion control, robotics, vision).
Design and implement control solutions for manufacturing processes, including process control, material handling, and inspection systems.
Define control logic, I/O requirements, architectures, and safety requirements (SIL/PL) and validate concepts through testing.
Interface with external system integrators and machine builders to develop robust automation systems and ensure performance requirements are met.
Provide production support, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and mentor engineers and technicians in controls.
