Job summary

Corning Incorporated seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead automation for fiber manufacturing and cable processing equipment. You will drive design, development, and implementation of advanced systems impacting production performance, quality, and throughput.

You will collaborate with suppliers and system integrators, translate proof-of-concept results into actionable engineering recommendations, and ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions across facilities in Concord, NC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 8+ years designing production process machinery or automated systems.
• Experience delivering integrated machine and automation systems with external builders.
• Strong knowledge of electromechanical drives, robotics, and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead automation and process equipment projects from concept through start-up.
• Define machine design specs and oversee prototype and production builds.
• Collaborate with external builders and system integrators to deliver integrated machines on time and on budget.
• Prepare construction and installation drawings and ensure as-built accuracy.
• Support system integration, debugging, installation, and training; monitor budgets.
