Job summary

Corning is seeking a Controls & Automation Engineering Technician in its Optical Fiber & Cable division to join a cross-functional team focused on automation systems for fiber manufacturing and cabling equipment.

You will support new equipment development and existing production systems, delivering control architectures, process control, and system integration across drawing, processing, and cabling operations.

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree in EET, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
• 10+ years of equipment and controls engineering experience.
• Experience with PLCs, ladder logic programming.
• Fanuc Robot Teach Pendant programming experience.
• Experience with smart cameras and barcode readers (Keyence, Cognex, or equivalent).
• Experience with HMI and GUI design.
• Understanding of electrical design, machine/motion control, robotics and system integration.
• Experience delivering fully integrated machine and motion control systems.

Responsibilities

• Integrate field devices for flow control, material handling, motion control, temperature control, and safety systems.
• Collaborate with controls engineers to implement control sequence logic and fail-safe states.
• Interface with external system integrators and machine builders to support project deliverables.
• Drive deployment of defined control architectures, standards, and system integration.
• Support project fabrication, offline integration and testing, installation, production startup, training, and tech transfer.
• Participate in project teams to deliver robust automation and process machine systems.
• Accurately scope, estimate, and complete assigned project work to timelines.
