Job summary
Corning Incorporated is seeking a Controls & Automation Engineering Technician to join a cross-functional engineering team focused on design, development, and implementation of automation systems for fiber manufacturing and cable processing equipment. This hands-on role supports new equipment and existing production, spanning process control, material handling, and system integration.
The position requires a two-year technical degree in EET/Mechatronics, 10+ years of experience, and proficiency
Qualifications
- Two-year technical degree in EET, Mechatronics, or related.
- 10+ years of equipment and controls engineering experience.
- Proficient with PLCs and ladder logic programming.
- Fanuc Teach Pendant programming experience.
- Experience with smart cameras and barcode readers (Keyence, Cognex).
- Experience with HMI/GUI design and implementation.
- Understanding of electrical design, machine/motion control, robotics, and system integration.
- Experience delivering integrated machine and motion control systems in manufacturing.
- Experience with checkout and verification of electrical control panels.
Responsibilities
- Integrate field devices for flow, material handling, motion, temperature and safety systems.
- Develop control sequences with safety states and recovery logic.
- Interface with external integrators and machine builders across the project lifecycle.
- Drive deployment of control architectures and system integration to meet manufacturing needs.
- Support fabrication, offline integration, testing, installation, startup, and tech transfer.
- Participate in teams to deliver robust automation and process machines.
- Accurately scope, estimate, and complete assigned project work to defined timelines.
