Job summary

Corning Inc. in North Carolina seeks an Electrical/Controls Engineer to design, develop, program, implement, and optimize control systems for cable manufacturing. You will provide leadership in troubleshooting, improve equipment performance, and mentor junior engineers.

The role requires 4+ years in manufacturing with HMI/SCADA, PLCs/VFDs, and AutoCAD Electrical. You will interface with system integrators, work with cross-functional teams, and support safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

4+ years manufacturing experience with HMI/SCADA, PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs in a plant environment.
Ability to generate, debug and modify PLC code – ladder logic, structured text, function block diagrams.
Proficiency in electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical 2021 for control layouts and schematics.
Knowledge of NEC/NFPA safety codes and Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures.

Responsibilities

Provides leadership in problem solving and technical expertise to resolve short-term process and equipment issues.
Design, create, modify, and implement robust automation and control systems (Allen Bradley PLC programs) for fiber optic cable production.
Mentor and train junior controls engineers.
Manage scope of process improvement, capital expansion, and obsolescence mitigation projects.
Interface with external system integrators to deliver integrated process equipment and lead projects through design, fabrication, testing, and start-up.
Collaborate with engineers, maintenance, operations and other plant functions for line troubleshooting and project completion.
Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
