Job summary

Hoffman Mechanical Solutions, Inc. seeks a Senior Automation Engineer to lead end-to-end design, implementation, and delivery of complex automation projects across multi-system and plant-level environments. You will act as the primary technical contact and mentor junior engineers.

This role balances strategic planning with hands-on execution, overseeing control system design, HMI/SCADA, PLC/DDC, and field commissioning while ensuring quality and schedules.

Qualifications

• 4–8+ years of experience in industrial automation, instrumentation and controls, PLC/DDC programming, and control system architecture.
• Demonstrated leadership experience on multiple small to medium scale projects.
• Broad exposure to multiple automation platforms, building automation projects, multi-system integration, industrial networking architecture, and field commissioning.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics or related technical discipline; trade school certificates may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Design complex control system drawings.
• Configure HMI/SCADA with data historization and reporting.
• Develop PLC/DDC logic and integrate VFDs and packaged skids.
• Lead bench testing, FAT, and site startup; travel up to 30%.
• Create and maintain project documentation.
• Provide peer reviews of designs and code.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures (OSHA-10).
• Assist in estimating schedules and tracking project finances.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive team collaboration.
